When Meghan and Donald sent back their Love Reports so we could plan their engagement session - I was ready to cry from excitement about the creative possibilities that lept from the pages. They had 2 of my top 10 places I've always wanted to photograph at for engagement sessions. Can you guess where this spot was? If you must have a clue: I spent way too much time and money there when I remodeled my studio - and I secretly desire to have an orange apron!

I'M SUPER STOKED!

I absolutely love what I do! Every day that I am able to photograph someone is another day that I wake up with a smile on my face, passion in my heart and creativity running from my fingers to my toes. It's really hard to top that feeling but the next best thing...aside from the love of my life...is attending workshops of other fabulously creative and talented photographers. I am so stoked to announce that I will be hosting workshops at my studio - Negative Space - in the spring for two FABULOUS female photographers whose work I just adore! Skye Hardwick and Brianna Graham are young, talented and successful female photograpers in the portrait industry who are taking it by storm. I was thrilled when they took me up on my offer of opening my doors to them to share their knowledge with us local photographers. Portrait Photographers out there...if you have not heard of these ladies...please click on the links to view their work and to get more workshop information. Brianna will be here February 28th-March 2nd. Skye will be here April 17-19th with a bonus bridal shoot on the 20th for attendees. Engagement Session {Megan & Russ} Teaser!

The first time I spoke with Megan to interview as her wedding photographer...we were on the phone for 2 hours and had rambled so far off the topic of weddings that it felt more like I was talking with a long lost friend than an interview. I knew then that I was going to love this girl if I was the lucky one chosen as her wedding photographer...and here I am...blogging about her super cute engagement session with her true love...Russ! Super Cute Dog Alert...and it's not mine!

I thought Sushi was the cutest dog on earth (and she still is!) but she's got someone as a close second to her. Mr. Chewy's mom brought him into the studio for a shoot featuring his Sunday best! Isn't he adorable! He was so good and we captured the most delightfully cute images of him...don't you agree?! Here's the card I designed for Chewy's mom...I can't wait for her to see them! I'm seriously considering starting a doggy bloggy dedicated to all of the sweet animals that I have had the pleasure of photographing....soon very soon!

PDN's TopKnots Wedding contest...WISH ME LUCK!!!

So I've never entered a photo contest that I can remember...I don't think! But I thought I'd give it a try this year since I've had some pretty fabulous bride and grooms that have given me an opportunity to create some wonderfully artistic images. PDN Magazine produces the TopKnots Wedding contest and I entered 2 portrait submissions and 1 detail submission. What do you think? There are alot of talented artists in the pool so I'm just thrilled that I'll be in the mix with them all. The winners are announced in late January...wish me luck!

Also - I'll be exhibiting at the upcoming Bridal Showcase on January 11th....if you are a bride...please come by my display for a special invitation for a private event just for you! I promise it will be something you won't want to miss out on!

Home for the holidays!

I headed back home for the Thankgiving holiday to spend it with my family in Iowa this year. I forgot what it felt like to be that cold! That's one thing I don't miss about home! While I was there I was able to reconnect with a friend from grade school. She's married with 4 adorable little kids and miraculously we were able to pull off a quick photo shoot before I had to head back to California. Here's a sneak peek Stacy...I hope you enjoy!
